  • Hi  and in a word yes. The first couple of weeks is very stressful - waiting for scan results and meetings to take place - but once you have a treatment plan in place then things will honestly feel a bit better. Once all your results are back then the MDT will meet. This is a team made up of specialists from all the various fields that will be involved in your treatment, they will agree a treatment plan for you and then the surgeon or a member of their team will make an appointment to discuss it with you. Depending on where the tumour is you may have treatment before surgery or go straight to surgery.

In the meantime please stay away from google. It can be inaccurate and downright scary in places. If you click on peoples names then their profile page may show their treatment to date and you can ask anything you like on here.

Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing but very treatable and we will be happy to help and support you through this

    Take care

  • Hi Rabbit 55

Karens given great advice  I would agree with Dr Google I did that and none of what I researched was what happened  I scared myself silly

I wanted to say hello and wish you well. Try a fill your time with things you enjoy or take your mind off the tests. I also listened to meditation/mindfulness apps on my phone it gave me some headspace

Keep chatting here if it helps

    Take care

  • I meant that not everyone has an mdt meeting about their case.my surgeon decided on treatment himself with agreement from me then when he had finished passed me on to oncology.

  • Just want to say thanks to all the replies, and let you know I have no intention of googling anything, will wait to hear from the MDT.
