Hello everyone,
I am new here-it is not me but my lovely boyfriend of 5 years who has advanced bowel cancer spread to liver. We only found out 2 weeks ago that he had secondary liver and possibly lung cancer (he is 41 and wasn't really unwell) and after 9 days in hospital they found a colon tumour and fitted a stent. He has now been taken to another hospital to have inpatient chemotherapy - this was sprung on us today- he was going to be discharged awaiting all the test results, so he is in shock and a bit upset.
It's very difficult as we still don't have all the information everything is just rushing at us. He was due to move here to Surrey and had just sold his place in London so he is in London and I am in Surrey
I am just reading though posts to try and find some positivity , I don't want to get my hopes up but I am frightened and not ready to lose him yet.

Welcome Perkins55 .
I am so sorry to hear about your boyfriend’s diagnosis. Hearing cancer has spread really pulls the rug out from under your feet . However I am pleased you have looked for hope as it’s so important.
Despite a difficult diagnosis there is a subgroup of patients who continue to do well with treatment . Sadly not all but some do very well . It really depends on their own response to treatment and that in itself gives hope . My mum has had a spread to her liver and lungs . Her liver was cleared of disease in 2010 and her lung was clear for a full five years but has returned . She has been a stage four patient for nearly 14 years but has had time away from treatment and many good years of living .
I will link a good document that gives a good explanation on treatment options and cell information that guides which treatment he will go on .
The treatment my mum is currently on was not funded back when she was diagnosed. They are very proactive and will guide him through this .
If you click on my name you can read my Mum’s story . Still to update recent events but will give you some insights .
Take care ,

Hello Perkins55
My story is of a stage 4 diagnosis (bowel and liver) in November 2018. Still here! Lots of treatment, ops, scans etc and it’s hard to escape. But please try to stay positive. And encourage your partner to exercise as much as possible. It helps to keep fit, and get fitter. I’ve even managed walks with a chemo pump in my pocket.
Have added a photo to bring a little beauty to your day.
Hi
Thank you so much for your response. Your story is amazing and so are you. I am so glad you are having successful treatment.
First chemo is almost in the bag and my partner is feeling ok so far. I will tell him your story and advice. He is trying to stay strong and positive.
Thank you for the lovely picture too..Little things really do make the difference.
With all best wishes and thanks
