Hi there. My husband went to see GP on 9th December having been constipated for 2weeks. He was diagnosed with Colon cancer on 3January and we were told it was incurable on 9th February. He had no other symptoms. We are waiting to get biopsy results and see the oncologist. I have SO many questions and feel very surreal. Hoping this group will help me understand what to expect and how to help him best as disease progresses.

  • Welcome  hope we can support both you and your husband as you navigate these difficult times .

This is a leaflet from bowel cancer U.K. which can be helpful .
Can I ask if they are proposing chemotherapy . Although incurable it is often treatable and bowel cancer is quite fortunate in that regard as it has quite a few different treatment options .

My own mum went from inoperable to operable twice and other options opened up . She has actually been in and out of treatment for fourteen years this summer . Although she is currently back in treatment she still has a quality of life . The initial two years were the most difficult.

Its hard to gauge on the internet how someone’s general health is .

We also have groups for carers who are looking after someone with incurable cancer which you might find helpful .

Please know that you are not on your own . It often feeling isolating to begin with but it helps to share and gets assistance too .

Our helpline staff are available to on a wide range of matters .

    Take care ,
