Hello, I was diagnosed in October with a 5cm tumour low down in my rectum which has grown into muscle. Apparently there is no spread to other organs but is in a couple of nodes. In mid December I had a Stoma operation which has to be permanent and I immediately felt so much better with regard to pain. I don't mind my Stoma to be honest, it's just another part of me and it seems to behave quite well! Today I started on my Chemoradiotherapy, 5 days for 5 weeks and on the Capecitabine tablets. I eat well and try to get out walks in the fresh air so hopefully this will help in my recovery. After a 10 week MRI it will be decided on next course of treatment but oncologist suggested 3 weeks of Chemo. Today I feel fine and hopefully will stay that way for the rest of my treatment.
Hi Jay Lee
I really like your positivity, it’s the very best way to fight Cancer
I just wanted to say hello and wish you well.
There’s a Stoma support group here too they’re a great group and have tips if you have hiccups with your stoma. I named mine. She’s my avatar
You take care and good luck with your treatment. Eating well and exercise is definitely a good way to go
Best Wishes
Ann
Hello and welcome! I had the same op as you mid Nov. My recovery has been hampered by a ‘rear end’ wound infection that landed me back in hospital twice. You are doing really well - keep it up!
I am seeing (speaking - telephone appt) oncologist on Thursday to see about more chemo. I had a week of radiotherapy and 4 cycles of capox before the op. Lab results after the op showed cancer in 18 out of 19 lymph nodes. Notwithstanding that the oncologist I saw in Dec said no more chemo just now.
were you offered chemo before surgery? I think I would have rather had it after the op.
wishonf you all the best for a continued speedy recovery. M
Thank you! Sorry to hear about your would infection hampering your recovery.
I wasn't offered Chemo first, I think that they're hoping to shrink the tumour enough to be able to remove it, then decide if any further treatment is needed. I think ultimately they're hoping no surgery will be needed, that would be the dream.
Likewise I wish you well.
Thanks.
I fancy full colour with the name Whoops within the design.
Im not getting any replies back from tattooist though. They either can’t do full colour or aren’t coverup artists.
Will keep researching it can’t be done for a year anyway which is September and I may be having treatment for my lungs so there’s lots to consider
I may design it myself. I’ve never had a tattoo and I’m 68. Wonder if I’m too old
Only joking. You’re never too old
Plus my brother is horrified. It’s winding him up so much, the devil in me is having a little fun.
Hope you have a good day x
Ann
