Hi to all on this First day of a New Year

Firstly , just joined today , reckoned I needed to be bit more proactive and today seemed to be fitting.
I have been lurking in background last month or so reading posts , educating myself on all your experiences, emotions, tips etc.Thankyou for sharing Rose.. your experiences and knowledge touch others Rose

As title says I’m not diagnosed as yet ( will write bio later)  In a bit of a No Man’s Land at moment.  Had bloods ( raised tumour levels) , 2 ultrasound scans in pelvic & full stomach. Awaiting colonoscopy appointment ( supposed to be urgent) …. But I do have Colorectal Consultant appointment next week , ( appointment has been cancelled and put back 3 times but I managed to get a cancellation ) ..so will see what path that leads me down.

Been a long journey so far had colorectal problems last 2 years , was referred last April but told a good 18 month waiting list. Due to ending up in A&E with another health problem that wonderful doctor there noticed a few RED FLAGS , she took the time to listen to me and asked my permission to email appropriate health care.

As an added bonus ( that’s my sarcasm & banter) , my hubby been told he has cancer in past 10 days . ( different type) .Sooooo not been much jingle bells this year & just kinda dragging ourselves through the holiday season before telling family etc ( don’t want to waste this time of year for them)

  • Hi Still Game and a warm welcome to the board. Yes the waiting for appointments and scans etc, is very stressful but hopefully next weeks appointment will set the wheels in motion and then you can find out exactly what you’re dealing with.

So sorry to hear that your husband being diagnosed too - life is certainly testing you both at the moment but I’m sure you’ll be able to support each other through this.  Totally understand why you don’t feel ready to tell the family yet - they will have a lot of questions that you’re maybe not in a position to answer just yet?

Im glad you’ve reached out to us - we’re all at different stages of treatment and recovery but happy to share advice and experience to help you through this. The support desk is also available if you need to talk in person or need advice on other matters

    Take care

  • Hi Still Game

I wanted to say hello. I joined here after my operation so I’d got through the worst. My head was all over the place before I knew the plan
Any questions just ask there’ll be someone here that has gone through it. I’ve had so much support here
Telling the family is the worst and it was really good that you managed to get through Christmas without that news plus it’s better to tell when you know what’ the plan is

    Sending you a hug

  • Thankyou Ann you are so right regards telling news when you ave a plan . … it’s been like walking in a fog , but keeping our chins up.

Thankyou so much  for welcome & wise words , and the offer of asking questions, makes me feel more comfortable , as I / we probably will Thumbsup

  • You are Welcome. I think your description of in a fog is so apt what with Christmas and New Year you must have been on auto pilot

I was in flight or fight mode unable to do either I watched easy movies and I did my pelvic floor twice a day.

    take care x
