Hi all, had my Surgery 27th October, healing well, beautiful neat scar ️ Starting CAPOX in the morning! Anxious but positive! Would like some hints on what’s best to eat should I suffer with loss of appetite, nausea etc. obviously got to keep up good nutrition!
I’m on my 5th session tomorrow of capox make sure you’re wearing gloves, hat snood and a good coat as you’ll get pins and needles if you don’t cover up. Also go to bed in a long sleeved top and cotton gloves especially in this weather. I only get a little nauseous but appetite is ok I get constipation for a few days followed by diarrhoea which with a stoma isn’t much fun I also suffer with low mood as well these are all side effects. It is slightly painful during the treatment but I’m told that’s how it is.
Hello, I had 4 cycles of capox before surgery (and expecting more chemo once I’ve recovered from the op - 3 weeks and still feel awful! Seeing oncologist next week). I was ok until the last cycle, which pretty much floored me. I struggled with my apetite and resorted to snacking on anything the thought of which didn’t make me feel sick! People I met on the chemo ward having the same treatment were completely unaffected - fingers crossed this is the case for you.
best wishes. Moira
Hi
I had capox. Slight nausea but they give you anti sickness tabs that work well. Felt the cold so wrap up warm and be careful getting stuff out of the fridge!!
I never had constipation or diarrhoea although i only had two infusions and 8 cycles of capicetabine.
Each cycle gets a little worse but stick with it and focus on the final cycle as it comes round pretty quick. Drugs leave the system after a few weeks and then life settles.
Good luck
Richard
Jay took really ill on CAPOX Richard midway through cycle 4 and they had to stop it. His symptoms were more the neuropathy too with the tingling in the fingers and toes. Don't know what happened at all as he tolerated the first 3 cycles really well. It was just after the 3rd though that they found the spread on the CT scan to his pelvis. Starting 5FU next Friday as 2nd line chemo. Hope he can tolerate this well and it will go better than the CAPOX- fingers toes and everything else crossed.

Thanks Moriq, I am, by nature a snacker, if it should affect my appetite then I would probably go that route too! Hoping there is not too much that makes me feel sick
Hi.I took the anti nausea pills so never felt sick on capox but found everything tasted of cardboard ie was tasteless so tended to eat fuller flavoured foods.then on the free third week was back to normal
Hang in there ,keep warm and all the best
Kath
Sorry to hear that. It certainly does fet worse. I found the cumulative effects over 8 cycles of tablets was debilitating but I think I got lucky as I only really had slight nausea and tiredness although generally felt off colour.
I hope he can cope with the alternative treatment
