Good evening, it is at this time of the night and into the early morning when I start to worry and think about my recent diagnosis.  I have an appointment on Friday 9th to get CT results and a plan for my bowel cancer.  I found out on 22 November and it is only in the last few days that it is beginning to sink in.  I think I need to talk to some people who understand.  I am a 56 year old female with 3 grown up children.

    1. Darling I found out on 25th Oct, start treatment on Wed. Have stage 4 they found it in by liver and kidney so need Chemo first. I am 58 and it is scarry ss hell. Not sleeping well either darling. Join with me in kicking this buggers ass lol. It's a shock as well. Sending gentle hugs xxxxx
  • Hi Jane!

Never a truer word said this disease is `a bugger` although I would go further and call it something stronger but not appropriate for here. We all need to get our size 10's on and boot it out for good.

  • I totally agree my darling. I have named retal tumour Fred and as its gone into my liver and kidney so I have the Flintstones lol. Decided to beat this barsteward with humour. If it weren't up my arse I would of kicked straight away lol. Just feel so tired all the time but can't sleep at night. My gp has signed me off for my treatment xxxxxxxxx

  • Hi

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis but you will find lots of support from this group. Bowel cancer is very treatable especially if it’s found early.  Mine wasn’t!!  I had Stage 3 bowel cancer fifteen years ago.  I had surgery and chemo and had no recurrence.

Treatments have improved since then so once you have a treatment plan it’s much easier!

So many people have bowel cancer and it’s good to use this site to get information and advice.

At this point, the best advice is to focus on getting as physically well as you can- eating high protein foods and getting any exercise that suits you.  The shock of being diagnosed with cancer is hard to come to terms with!

    Good luck!

    Jac

Life is what happens when you are making other plans!
