42 single mother of 2 teenage boys . Extreme fatigue like you can't believe. Really struggling to go toilet due to size of tumour . Using murcovil , lactulose, fibogel, and off the top off my head I cant remember but I take 4 tablets ( little yellow ones ) on the evenings. Still struggling to go , hardly eating eating due to bloating . Normally I have ice cream in the morning , and mash mixed with soup for tea . I'm scared to eat anything else . I was in a n e due to being full . X Ray confirmed I was basically full to the brim . They just said double up on laxatives. I've my mri this Saturday and then still have to wait for the Dr's do decide what to do .
I'm just so scared that it has spread as I've been to the Dr's with symptoms for the past yr but been fobbed off . I've lots of support and my boys are bloody amazing ( I have told them because I'm so poorly at home )
Just wondering if anyone has found anything to help with the eating and helping feeling comfortable belly wise .
Hi Stargirl
I’m sorry that you’re going through this.
I empathise with you and know how you feel. If you click on my name you’ll see my back story and the four inch tumour I had in my rectum. I couldn’t process my food and was so tired that I was convinced it was everywhere.
Then it dawned on me. I was not able to eat anything substantial. My hubby suggested Complan twice a day. So I’d have a little porridge for breakfast, elevenses Complan with milk, small soup or half sandwich with peanut butter for lunch. Dinner child sized portion of mashed type food. Supper complan.
So I broke my meals to five snack sized portions
Honestly I had so much more energy after a couple of days and my bowel didn’t struggle. They told me to use laxatives but the max strength caused bleeding so I used the softeners and some gentle exercises pelvic floor is really good and short walks help
I wore loose clothing as the bloating was so uncomfortable.
It’s a frightening time, my mind was all over the place.
I hope all goes well for you. Chat here if it helps.
Once you get your treatment plan there will be lots of people here that would have had the same.
You may not have the same treatment as me it all depends on your teams plan for your best way forward
Bowel cancer is very treatable.
take care
Sending you a hug x
Ann
Hello artsie ,
I really appreciate the reply thank you , I have just today brought some ensure powder drink which contains all the vitamins and everything else that I'm not getting through food . Hoping that will help with just feeling more "awake" . I have gotta get myself in a routine I'm tending to just have something on the evening where as I do need to spread it all out. I need to get out of the rutt I'm in . So easy just lay on the sofa and wait for the kids. The tiredness is so overwhelming sometimes .
I've read your story and glad all is going in the right direction . I'm being treated at new cross Wolverhampton in the Midlands. Hopefully I will know in the next 2 weeks more about my treatment plan and staging . That's the worst waiting .
All the best

Hi Stargirl
If it was my relative and they were taking all of that and not able to go I would either be on the phone to the GP or if you are feeling the uncomfortable feeling has the potential to be an emergency blockage I would be advising them to use the A and E services to ensure that was not an issue that needs looked into further .
I would most definitely want to know from the colorectal team that there was sufficient space in the colon for it to pass .
There are ways for them to help you so please do get back on the phone and make sure your needs are being addressed .
It is not easy but if you are concerned please do act .
Our helpline staff would be happy to advise too on 0808 808 0000.
So sorry you are having to endure this and hopefully a solution is round the corner .
Take care ,
Court
