Still suffering from fatigued, 2 months after traetment stopped. Whats worse is the memories I cant shake after the operation. Terrible pain for 4 days. Still in my mind. Cant forget

  • Hi scorpio

Im not sure what treatment or operation you have had.

I had pain and discomfort for quite some time so I can empathise with you. My GP actually came up trumps with my pain meds which was reassuring as I haven’t seen him in three years. It was a phone call

    Sending you a hug.

  • Right. I had loewer bowel cancer. Operationn took 8 hours.. couldnt beleive the pain in my lower stomach, still after 4 days on ICW. They called the pain unit in. Did no good. Anyway, pain slowly resided as I was discharged after one week. I still have living pains of that time. They dont go away for me. Thanks for for massage.

  • Hi Scorpio, so sorry you were in so much pain and still have fatigue.  Its normal to have fatigue for quite a while after treatment and it seems to be that the body puts so much effort into repairing itself, that there isn't enough energy for "normal" things.  It does wear off over time and eating as well as you can and  gentle exercise seems to help - even a short walk in the fresh air, which you can gradually lengthen/quicken helps.  Its really difficult to get over traumatic events in your life and I've also found myself replaying these in my head.  You have to "let them go" and leave them in the past, which is so easy to say and really difficult to actually do!  You might find it helpful to contact your local Maggies centre and/or contact the  MacMillan Support line which is available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm  on  0808 808 0000.   Look after yourself.

  • Hi Scorpio

I had a LAR and I seemed to have more pain than others my bruising showed the amount of work I needed. My GP said that I shouldn’t have pain and I was on slow release Tramadol for two months until I weaned myself off with paracetamols and ibuprofen. I kept a diary of my meds and meals that I ate
It may be worth contacting your GP for advice. If you take the meds and record it keeps the pain manageable.
    it’s an invasive surgery

I needed naps when I was tired and did my pelvic floor daily eating as healthy as my stoma would allow.
It takes time and I was impatient and pushed but eventually I learned to listen to my body.
    Take care x
