Difficult Days

This is a harder post but part of life .

Mum has been battling new challenges and at the same time so has my dad . Mum had a gastric bleed which she was fortunate to recover from and at the same time dad had a cerebral bleed two days apart .

Both are very sick . Whilst mum has been here they have found some lymph nodes , a lung nodule and ascites . The ascites more probably from low protein . This has caused a battery of assessments as you can imagine before the information is through .

Dad has had a dense stroke . We have been called twice to sit with him through the night but he is still here .

One day at a time , one scary test at a time and best foot forward .

  • Hi ,

Thank you so much for all your thoughts . Much appreciated.

Had a wee moment in with dad and asked the staff for a glass of water . They made me tea too . Dad spied it and grabbed my handle . Think he is wanting a wee drink .

The Dr came in when I was in with mum and said hardly anything of concern in the abdomen, only got 5 ml . Which I suspected as all her scans showed that for years . He thought that was a red herring . The more I thought about it I was unconvinced it was a bowel cancer recurrence given her primary was removed in 2009 .  That’s a long time for her immune system to surpress  things .

He agreed and said it has a cystic presentation in the lymph nodes and calling in the respiratory team for further investigation for a lung primary. I have no idea how they know this but said it’s very slow growing .

He also took on board our question about the pain that she has been experiencing in her spine and did another look and found a healing pelvic fracture.

But we knew my mum was made of strong stuff !

She is now getting good pain meds . As before she has no symptoms of what ever is going on in her lungs .

She has a wee zimmer !

Catheter out , dinner in and two wee junior drs turned up to see if they could assess her as word has gone out an unusual case has turned up in the hospital . Mum was all for this but I was not alloRofld to help the dr out ! Rofl.

Mum was thrown this morning but strength had descended by this afternoon.

She as ever is leading a good life despite a difficult diagnosis.

West of Scotland women are not faint heart !

She is sturdy and unshaken !

    Keep smiling ,
