Hi all,
My diagnosis journey came about after being sent a 60th birthday present from the NHS. A FIT test which was returned needing further investigation. The wheels went into motion and I had a colonoscopy which discovered a large sigmoid tumour ( now named Cedric) which was classed as high grade and needed surgery and was sent for an immediate CT scan. To top it off they also found a thickening of the gullet which needed investigation before they could remove Cedric. Everything moved so quickly and within six weeks I had surgery. I was extremely lucky that the surgeon could reconnect the bowel without the need for a stoma. I am now home from hospital and have been hit with this emotional wall and side effects which are difficult to cope with. Physically I am well but having to cope with accidents and toilet issues is the struggle. I am generally a control freak and I am panicking each time something takes me out of this control.
does anyone else feel like this?
Yes I did at the time, SheenaMc I think it is normal. The bowel has had a big assault done on it, and it takes some time to readjust and heal.
There is a great paper, that deals with the aftereffects of treatment
Hopefully this link works! And I hope it helps you. Please come back to ask anything else, this is a great forum. Sending ((hugs))
