Hi
I had bowel resection 9 months ago when I eat vegetables it goes right through me ,does anyone else have this problem .is it best to eatlow fibre
Thank you
Hi Kylkimry
I take it that you haven’t got an ileostomy?
However it may help to eat similar to I had after my operation. Beige low fibre diet and then introduce keeping a food diary and if you have a flare up you can leave that vegetable off for a while. I can eat any vegetables that are over cooked Some I avoid completely as I know my output will not be pleasant
Hope things improve soon

It’s carbs like white bread, pasta dairy anything beige and stodgy.
Nothing that gets the bowel working hard so all the healthy stuff is hard work for your bowel.Salads hard vegetables all need an active bowel yours may be overactive or have IBS so if you cut down on all of the colourful foods for a couple of days and see how it goes chew chew chew is another thing we do that also will help your bowel
Hopefully this will help just a couple of days with good food you know is okay then introduce and see if you’re still not settling down there’s medication to help. You could contact your team or your GP
Hope things improve soon

My Bowel resection was in May 2019. Straight after, I resumed my normal diet. However, even today, I have problems with coffee mostly, & sometimes eggs. Apparently coffee is very acidic, & upsets the stomach lining.
Yes it’s about finding out what’s good for you it’s really individual. My hubby suffers with diverticulitis and when that flares up he lives on yogurt. It works. Then he introduces more variety but too much roughage is not good for him. Or so he keeps telling me ha ha

Hiya,
I had APR surgery and permanent colostomy 3 weeks ago and they gave me a book with suggested foods. Like Artsie says low fibre and then adding bits back gradually. Potatoes ok but without skins, well cooked root vegetables are supposed to be better than green leafy ones.
lots of people say live yoghurt is really good as well

Hi
I have a stoma and have learned to live with the implications of certain foods! During my initial recovery i made the mistake of having baked beans on wholemeal bread with fried egg on top! The output was dramatic to say the least!
Nowadays i stick to muesli and yoghurt for breakfast as this seems to be easily dealt with (apart from some of the seeds!)
I know that veggies and wholemeal are going to prompt a purge but thats not such a bad thing as that tends to be followed by a period of (in my case) relative inactivity, amd so i sometimes deliberately adopt this approach to clear thw system for days/nights out.
I'm waiting for the training on self irrigation too and am hoping this will make life even easier.
Keep experimenting bit it is controllable
