I have tried to describe just where I'm currently at on my pathway, in my profile, but as a quick summary:

Currently I am recovering from surgery for a right hemi-colectomy. Within the next two weeks I am scheduled to start a six-month course of chemotherapy, and I must admit that I am rather anxious about this.

Hopefully I will be reassured, by reading the accounts of others on the discussion board who are undergoing, or have undergone the process already. Similarly,  it will be nice to be able to use this forum to relay my own experiences of the treatment, and help people who will be starting out where I am in the months to come.

Thanks all.

  • Hi

Welcome to the forum . I am going to let others with experience address the chemotherapy aspect but I just want to say it’s great your getting your fitness up . Lots of research coming through that it aids recovery and tolerance . Even moderate activity.

    Take care ,

  • Hi and a warm welcome from me too. Do you know what chemo you’ll be having? Unfortunately chemo can have a lot of side effects but everyone has an individual experience of it and any side effects are well managed by the oncology team. I’ve attached a link to a post that we started about chemo, it’s unlikely that you’d suffer all the side effects but sometimes it’s reassuring just to know what’s normal?

Hope the chemo goes well and it would be great if you could share your experience with others too

    Take care

  • Hi Kareno62,

Thank you for responding to my post.

I will be having an infusion of Xelox, followed by a two week course of capecitabine, on a three week cycle.

My main fear is the possuble sickness/vomiting. It's just something I have never dealt with at all well. However, reading some of the posts on the discussion board, it seems that there are a number of ways of controlling this.

  • Thank you court.

I'm so glad I joined this group. The collective knowledge an experience on hear is amazing, and everyone is so sympathetic and kind.

    You take care.
