Hi all
Can i ask how long after your diagnosis you have Waited before the start of treatment.
I was diagnosed with 5cm bowel cancer tumor 6 weeks ago and at the beginning everything seemed to happen quickly, mri , ct, appointment after appointment etc.
Ive had a bad couple of days, and i know ive been overwhelmed which is out of character for me.
I had an appointment to see an uroligist yesterday, it appears that my tube that drains my kidney to my bladder is showing signs of narrowing ,this is said to have happened in the last 5 years. Has anbody else had this happen to them when theyve had bowel cancer, it is in my rectum wall.
Urologist want to do some tests on me but i need to be admitted as a day case due to the anasthetic, he said i was to be admitted within the nexf 2 weeks, his secretary told me today that his notes read that i was to be admitted within next month. Im not impressed.
Tomorrow i see my colorectal dr to have the measurements done for my radiotherapy and sign the consent forms, will my radiotherapy be put on hold until this urology test is complete, if so should i be concerned over the delay on the start of trestment.
I have been told im having radiotherapy first then chemo.
Hi Dottis mum . Things moved pretty quickly when I was diagnosed 6 years ago but there does seem to be a bit more time now before starting treatment. Bowel cancer is very slow growing but very treatable and you will find that you have quite a long break after completing your chemoradiotherapy and before surgery as the radiotherapy continues working after the physical treatment has stopped.
I think the best person to ask about whether your radiotherapy will be put on hold until the urology test is complete would be your colorectal doctor or you could give your colorectal support nurse a ring? I’ve attached a link to a post that we started on radiotherapy below
Hope this helps but feel free to ask if you’ve any questions and we’ll try to help
Take care
Karen x
