Hello. It was quite a shock to discover that I had a large, Stage 3 malignant tumour in my ascending colon, having been to see my GP with regard to something else. After tests, leading to a colonoscopy and endoscopy (Ugh - does anyone like the laxative we must drink?), I had surgery very promptly nearly two weeks ago. Now, with stomach neatly stapled up, There is still quite a lot of leakage from my belly button (which remained unstapled) and have to change dressings several times within a 24-hour period. I wonder if others have this problem? Staples are due out tomorrow. Meanwhile, still in some pain, gradually recovering at home, and almost ready to resume dog-walking. Would like to hear from others re. their experiences.
Hi Maddylou
Welcome to the forum . I will leave others with experience to comment but just wanted to say Hi and how impressed I am that you are even thinking about dog walking . You sounds as though you are actually doing very well on many fronts .
Take care ,

hi Maddylou
i hated the laxative I took in fact I projectile vomited it.
Sorry too much info.
I had a different op to you but had a drain in for quite some time so I think the fluid is how it should be. If you’re concerned contact your team for advice although you hopefully will get it checked when the staples are removed. That will give some relief
Hope all goes well
Ann
Many thanks, Court and Artsie, for your kind replies. Yes, I vomited up the first two glasses of laxitive as well. Never again!!! Hopefully, stitches coming out today, which I'm looking forward to, and expect the real healing to start. I hope that you have both fully recovered from your operations. Best wishes.
Hi
I actually quite enjoyed the laxative and have had it again as part of the ongoing surveillance as I have the dubious pleasure of colonoscopies etc to look forward to for 5 years.
I had a different op but did have leakage from the wound at the rear for a while as it healed so this is perfectly normal, just means sleeping on a dri-nite!!
Glad to say I'm all healed now and living in peaceful co-existence with my stoma (Eddie) Good luck
Ah, sounds like you may have developed a taste for it, but just as well with multiple colonoscopies coming up. Having had the stitches out, my stomach has split open, so now have a drain attached, and need to go to the hospital to deal with this daily. Fortunately, I have great friends and neighbours who can give me a lift there and walk the dog.. Just a temporary set back, but wonder if I may have a peep-hole into the workings of my innards for life?!!
I love you’re positivity Eddiestomart and Maddyllou
Things will improve for you Maddylou I found my drain uncomfortable it was the one tube I was glad to get out it did it’s job
Like you Ediestomart I live happily with Whoopi she’s been my life saver and may be a keeper the jury’s still out.

Having a peep hole is not such a bad thing ️
I get to see the inner workings of my bowel at very close quarters and its strangely hypnotic
I'm sending prayers for your recovery and a happy life
"Whoopi" love it, and fully believe that you have to find some humour in whatever situation you're faced with. I welcome Eddie as I no longer have the issues I had and he behaves himself most of the time. Keep positive, keep smiling
That’s the way
Whoopi she worked.
