Hi, I have been experiencing symptoms for a while especially bleeding after a bowel movement and tummy pain.
Yesterday I had my colonoscopy, initially I felt content that nothing major was seen however after reading the report I am now feeling so anxious about the finding of polyps.
The report reads as follows-
Anus: There were second degree hemorrhoids (which prolapse and reduce
spontaneously) in the anal canal.
Colon. Polyps - see Polyp Findings. (1 polyps seen).
Terminal Ileum: The terminal ileum was normal.
Polyps Findings
Several Polyps identified in the ascending colon: Type = Sessile, sizes several polys
between 2- 4 mm, avulsed using cold biopsy., (completed removed), retrieved.
I am now so worked up that my initial feeling of reassurance was silly and probably due to the lasting effect of the sedation and in fact I still have cause to worry.
Hi knicnic
You could phone our helpline staff . They can access one of the nurses to go through them with you . 0808 808 0000
Certainly most people here are told at the time if there is anything obvious . Did the person doing the colonoscopy say anything to you after it ?

Thank you so much for replying. I asked in my sedated state the consultant and I think the nurse, and they said they didn’t see anything worrying. The consultant just said about the polyp, they even showed me it after extraction. I didn’t realise it was polyps plural until I read my notes today.
I feel silly that I felt so relieved, and also that I didn’t ask more about the polyps and now have a little wait to find out more. I stupidly googled to try answer my questions and it made for scary reading so that definitely hasn’t helped.
I honestly don’t think they would have said that if they had any concerns . They are inclined to be honest at this stage . A few people do have more than one and from the information you have given it sounds as though they removed them .
You could phone your GP for some reassurance.
