Im under the 2 week wait and it’s killing me
Welcome Socks . I am going to tag in Kareno62 as it’s better coming from someone who has experience. Everyone here does understand the uncertainty you are going through and will pop on and support you . You will be able to draw strength from their experience and hear from others how are now back rebuilding their lives with treatment firmly in the background.
The other thing to remember, I have lost count the number of people who have come through the system with similar symptoms and it was other conditions that were causing the bleeding . However you are absolutely doing the right thing getting checked .

Hi Socks. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2016 and if you click on my name then my profile page will show the treatment that I had.
The waiting for a colonoscopy is very stressful but the best way of getting checked out. There are lots of things that have the same symptoms as Bowel cancer like crohns, colitis, diverticulitis and only 1 in 10 colonoscopies turn out to be bowel cancer. Artsie didn’t your husband have something like this?
Thoughts are not facts so please try not to assume the worse - if it does turn out to be Bowel cancer then there is a lot of treatment available and we’ll be happy to help and support you through it but let’s cross that bridge if we get to it
Hope you get an appointment through soon
Take care

Hi Karen & Socks
Yes my hubby had every test available each time we thought the worst. He was diagnosed polyps, IBS, then diverticulosis. He literally had to introduce foods starting with yogurts then fruit etc. he’d get a flare up and back to the beginning. He suffered bloating, bleeding, pain and nausea and running to the toilet.
it went on for a long time before it settled. He still has to be careful and monitor his reaction to food.
The ironic thing is ten years later I had a fit test and had rectal cancer.
Try not to think the worst Socks. I know it’s really frightening but you are on their radar and whatever the diagnosis there’s treatment to sort out the problem.
I put it to the back of mind as much as I could.
Ann
Hi Socks,
this is my first post here. I have finally put up my profile, even though I have been reading posts on here for nearly a year, hence the name, your post inspired me to respond . I'm not into social media but I do understand what you are going through.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer about a month after I was referred. luckily it had not spread. Waiting is the hardest part but if you are diagnosed with cancer (which I hope you won't be, there are lots of other causes for symptoms out there) it all happens so quickly (take a look at my profile I have put up all my appointments).
The most important things I found was to keep talking to family, (or keep posting on here) and keep on laughing.
I am now 6 months post-op, feeling fine and with the stoma I can now poo in the street and not get arrested!
Wishing you all the best
Welcome Just Hoping I have spotted you !
So glad you joined in . It’s good to have your input and hope to see more from you !. No pressure there .
You might be surprised but I read for a year too.
Delighted your safely through surgery and doing so well .
Take care ,
