Hi Everyone
On 25 February I had an op to remove most of my large bowel and to join up what remained. I came home on on 9 March.
Since last Sunday or Monday I've experienced a tightness across my belly which aches but isn't causing actual pain - so far anyway.
I'm going to have this checked at a clinic but wondered if anyone else had experienced this and what if signifies?
Thanks for any info you can provide.
William
Hi. I had a LAR. August 4th. It was keyhole and incision and took a long while to come off pain killers.
It depends on what they’ve done to remove the cancer. I felt bruised well actually like I’d been ran over by a bus. Yes I’m a little bit of a drama Queen as if I’d been ran over by a bus I wouldn’t be typing.
Im pleased that you’re getting it checked out and hopefully they will give you pain meds if needed.
if you click on names you can read peoples bio
Take care

Hi William. It’s always good to get checked out but it’s probably just your insides starting to repair themselves - you may find a few more twinges as you start to recover and do a bit more but I was told about 5 weeks recovery so keep taking it steady and take pain killers if you need them
Take care

Hi William
I had a left hemicolectomy - which involved 12" of my descending bowel & sigmoid removed in May 2019. I experienced many twinges & dull aches in that area from time to time - for many months following - & put it down to the effects of having undergone major surgery & the body needing to recover, whilst scar tissue is forming. The discomfort gradually eased with time.
Best wishes
Marian
hi William, your insides have a lot to heal. When I got the pains I took co-codomol which worked for me plus a hot water bottle placed on my stomach. Co-codomol can cause constipation so be aware of that.

Thanks! Mine was keyhole and incision too. I saw a nurse yesterday who changed my dressings and she saw no sign of bloating or inflammation and said she thought tightness was part of the natural healing process.
I hope your recovery is going well now.
Thanks again
William
Thanks. That's very reassuring.
Best wishes to you too
