A routine colonoscopy yesterday morning revealed I had a malignant tumour in my colon. I was seen by the nurse specialist who was very kind, she talked about surgery and chemo. My head is spinning and I keep bursting into tears. I will have a ct scan within 2 weeks, then a plan. Hoping to keep myself busy till I have a plan. But I am wide awake and feeling frightened tonight. I am so glad I found this group, I am sure you lovely people will be able help me along the way.

  • Dear Bella 07. I too was recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer, and I know how you feel,as I, felt the same.I would lie awake thinking, thinking ,thinking, and worrying about things ,and crying a lot.But the lovely people on here have been wonderful, and helped me so much.,and you will find that they'll all be so supportive of you.as they:'ve all been through the same journey as we have just STARTED ON..Once you have your plan in place, things will feel more settled. and if you have questions to ask, then don,t hesitate to ask them,as everyone here will be so helpful. I,m thinkKng of you,and saying a prayer .Just take one day at a time, Bella07.That,s what I m trying to do..God bless..

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the board from me too. The next couple of weeks will be a flurry of scans, tests and meetings but this is so they can get all the information together to get the best treatment plan in place for you. Once you have a plan in place then things will honestly feel a bit better.

Please stay away from google - it is out of date, misleading and downright scary in places - you can ask anything you like on here and, if you click on people’s names, then their profile page may show their treatment so far. I’ve attached a link to the booklet that I was given at my first meeting which may help?

Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing but very treatable. We’re all at different stages of treatment and recovery and will be happy to help and support you through yours

    Take care

  • Hello Bella07,

A warm welcome to the board from me too, but so sorry you find yourself here.

The next couple of weeks will be difficult – having tests and waiting for all the results to be collated is a frightening time your head will be all over the place I expect. Once they have all the results there will be a MDT meeting (Multi Disciplinary Team) where they will determine the best treatment plan for you. Once you have a plan in place you will feel much better, honestly; difficult to believe at the moment I know.

If you click on the icon at the side of the person’s name you can read their bio – everyone is at different stages of their journey. There is so much support and advice on here and always someone around to answer questions who have been there done that.

    Take Care,
