Awaiting treatment plan have had scans and colonoscopy. The consultant found a 35mn lump in anus. He said it has not spread but says treatment will be lengthy it depends on type of Tumor it's either areo or squasmis sorry have dyslexia cannot spell. He says it will be either radiation or big operations and a permanent bag. I am worried very worried I am going to pass away. Can they tell if it's spread to lymph nodes through the CT and MRI he says there is no spread but concern seems to be where lump is
Hi BlackPudding.
Im sorry you are very worried, I hope that I can reassure. Bowel Cancer is very treatable. You are now on their radar and they will decide the best treatment.
If you click on my name you can read my bio and others here.
I think the stand out statement for me. There’s no spread. That’s such a relief.
I had rectal cancer so I’m sure someone that’s had the same as you will join our chat.
This is the worst time. The mind can goes all over the place. Stay away from Google
Be kind to yourself
Ann
Thanks do you know if scans show any spread to lymph nodes the Colonoscopy report said no spread
Hi there sorry to hear your news. I hope everything goes well for you it is a worrying time, but try and stay positive please don't think you will pass away they can do so much now which cancer treatment. And I have heard of so many that have had a lot of cancer and still live for many years after there treatmen
xx always think posative that is the key to this xx
I had my bowel cancer op last November and was in theater 10 hours they told me and I have a stoma, I was more upset with that than the cancer, but I am getting there now, it just took a bit of time to get my head round it
I am going on holiday for a week to a friends end of march this is bothering me a lot as the journey is a very long one but I'm really wanting to do this for myself,
Hope you get good results
I believe yes the scans do show spread and I think if they’ve told you no spread then try and think positive .
But I’m not a medic.
Take care
Ann
Hi Blackpudding. Please try not to worry too much. As Artsie Ann said, bowel cancer is very treatable. The fact that there is no spread us really good news. My treatment was 25 sessions of radiotherapy alongside Capacetibine (chemotherapy tablets) from March to April. APR surgery July. Followed by 6 months of Capacetibine. Having a stoma is really not much of a problem. In fact it can sometimes be a bonus!
Take care

As others have said earlier - Bowel Cancer is very treatable. I think that all scan procedures, to include CT, MRI & PET pick up spread to other organs. I'm not sure they do for Lymph Nodes. My thinking is that any Lymph Nodes that are affected, are usually picked up after biopsies...either through Colonoscopy or Operation at the site of the tumour. If one or more are affected, the usual route is chemo/Radiation - before or after the operation to remove the tumour.
If you have been told there is no spread elsewhere - that's a positive.
Best wishes
Marianne
