Hi I'm new to the group. I had all.my colon removed in May 2o21 as an emergency obstruction. I had no symptoms and now have a permanent ileostomy which has taken some getting used to. Just wanted to say hi. I'm currentky on chemotherapy.
Hi Big Sister of 3 and welcome to the board. There’s lots of support on here for both chemo and ileostomy. There’s a separate stoma board too if you want to have a look there?
https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_experiences/ileostomy-and-colostomy-discussions-forum
How are you managing with the chemo? We’ve got a thread about top chemo tips so please feel free to have a read and add any tips that you might have
I’m glad you’ve found us here - it must have been a lot to take on board so feel free to ask if there’s anything that you’re struggling with?
Take care

Thank you. It's going to take me a while to navigate the site.
Hi Big Sister of 3 ..Welcome from me .First thing about this site is that your never alone and we are all on the same journey but not all going on the same road..Does your Stoma have a name yet? If not giving it one helps you when you're talking about it..My loop Stoma were Boris and Nicola. Have a look at my profile and you can see my journey through this.
Don't be a stranger to this page or worry about anything on your own..
Alaine
Hi Alaine
Thank you so much for the warm welcoming words. My stoma is called Cynthia, didn't want to name it after anyone because of what comes out lol.
My ileostomy is permanent. I had no symptoms but was an emergency admission and have no.colon now. Takes a bit of getting used to and getting your head round. I'm now on my second type of chemo as the first one didn't work and made me very unwell. I'm coping much better on this and a couple of weeks ago had my first bit of good news that my cancer markers in my blood have started to come down. I should be having a CT scan in a couple of weeks.
I think people think I'm coping really well when sometiimes it's just putting a brave face on it and then other people say really insensitive things. I only want positive people around me saying you've got it. And why do certain members of family who i don't have contact with go round on a fishing expedition trying to find out what's wrong with me? Sirry for the rant at the end but it's not about them but they like to spread gossip for their own reasons. One person messaged me and asked Have they given you any hope? So I've closed ranks. I have only the people i want now , which are plenty, a mixture of close family and friends, who i let know what's going on.
Hope I've not bored you.
Your so true it made me want to scream I've got Cancer don't keep telling me that I look fine (I don't use that word anymore).. We all deserve a medal for the horrendous experience.we are going through .You seem like a positive person good on you
I see you understand why my twins were called Boris and Nicola .When I came out of the operation They were on the TV and I thought what a.load of
.
Go on to the Stoma page I've now got a lot of people who I'm proud to call friends. Court has a catch up page and really good
.Alaine
Yes i will. Been awake for hours. Got an overactive stoma tonight.
Hi Big Sister of three
i really like the name Cynthia. I know what you mean about choosing one. I dabbled between Hermione and Whoopi. She’s definitely Whoopi.
I expect Cynthia is playing up from the Chemo. It’s so hard in the middle of the night I’ve been stood in the bathroom half awake with a volcanic eruption and I’m not on chemo. Self inflicted if Whoops doesn’t like what I put in she tells me.
welcome to the group. I’ve found some amazing support here from people that get it.
Hope Cynthia behaves today
Ann
Thank you for the warm.welvome to the group
Cynthia is not too bad so far today but only time will tell lol.
Hi big sister of 3, I don't have a stoma, but you'll get lots of good advice from those who do. Yes so many insensitive beings about, I also surround myself with positive people and either ignore incencetivity one's or give a very sarcastic remark.
Yes courts catch up page is very good. Take care
