Hi I have recently been told I have bowel cancer stage 1 in sigmoid and I am booked for high anterior resection on 24/1/22.
I feel numb and am just trying to keep focused on getting the operation and being cancer free.
Hi and welcome to the board. Stage 1 is about as ‘good’ as it gets for a bowel cancer diagnosis with really good non-reoccurrence rates. It’s natural to be anxious about the op but this is an everyday job for the surgeons so put your trust in them and the nurses. They will be keen to get you up and about after surgery and hopefully it won’t be long before you’re home and back in your own bed.
Ive attached a link to a booklet about the op and it has a handy page about things to take with you - an extra long charging cable is a popular one!

Hope all goes well and please ask if there’s anything in particular that you’re worried about
Take care

Hi BSJC
I just wanted to say hello. This community has given me strength on my journey. There’ll will be lots that are a little more ahead than you too.
If you click on my name you can read my bio. I’m slightly different to you I had a lower anterior resection in August.
You are right to focus now on getting that cancer in the bin and out of you. I felt once I had my treatment plan I could get as fit as possible, plan my hospital bag and hand myself over for them to deal with it.
Ann
