After the colonoscopy which was done friday .7.01.22 i was informed by the nurse that there is a 3cm suspected malignant tumor in my rectum. I was so devastated and tears just flowed from my eyes. I was told that a tissue sample was taken and will be send for biopsy. Tuesday 11 december i had my mri pelvis. I am so worried and unable to sleep since friday . Is a 3cm malignant tumour bad? Or has it spread or is it aggressive?please do reply if anybody  here has had a 3cm tumor. Many thanks and regards to all. Godbless

  • Hi kareno62, i am also due for sigmoidoscopy next week thursday and will be be done by one of the consultants and i dont why as i already had the colonoscopy on jan 07,22

  • Hi . Maybe the consultant wants to look at the tumour himself rather than just relying on the colonoscopy report? It’s a lot less invasive than a colonoscopy as it only looks at the rectum and lower part of the colon so I think they’re just be ultra efficient and getting all the info together for the MDT x

  • Thanks kareno62 for replying.  You are such a relief and an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Hope you have a good day.

  • Getting anxious again as thinking of next week meeting with the oncologist

  • Sounds as though by then they will have all the information to hand and will be able to explain your treatment plan going forward

  • Ive been very anxious since knowing i will be meeting the oncologist next week thursday. Just hoping and praying its not all bad news

  • Hi . I know, it’s horrible just waiting isn’t it? I wish I could magic you forward but all I can suggest is that you try and keep yourself busy/distracted. Whatever the outcome is, it won’t change by you worrying and you’ll end up tired and emotional, I know it’s hard but Thursday will get here eventually and then you’ll honestly feel a bit better. Have you thought about writing some questions down that you might want to ask at the meeting? x

  • I have had a 7 cm  tumour removed and am on the road to recovery after an operation. I appreciate the initial shock and sense of dread, but with the help of family and the wonderful nurses at the Royal and advice from Macmillan, I am getting through the worry and sense of feeling hopeless. It does get better, ask for information from your doctor, the diagnostic consultant who gave you the prognosis, also contact the Macmillan Cancer Centre, they can offer all sorts of help and reassurance. I wish you all the best in your journey forward
