Hi,
I have just found out my Dad has bowel cancer as yet we do not know what degree. The multi disciplinary team meeting is today and he will have a follow up meeting although I am not sure when. I am just so anxious about it all can’t eat can’t sleep etc. I have two small children and trying to keep it together for them but I am not really coping that well with it.
does anyone have any advice on how to help family members whilst also dealing with my own anxiety about it?
It just feels all consuming at the moment - that combined with COVID I am just all over the place.
thankyou
xx
I am in a similar situation. My mum has oncology appt today and we will find out the extent of cancer spread. Appt was cancelled last week due to Covid. So it's been a very anxious week. I haven't told my kids either as my husband's father died a few weeks ago. It's just one day at a time and many many people praying that has given us strength x
This leaflet might help and we also have a helpline 0808 808 0000 who are happy to chat through any aspect .
I found a chat with my GP very helpful for getting on top of the anxiety especially when you have young children with lots of needs to meet too .
