Hi everyone,
Just a quick question .Does anyone know the chances of being able to get colostomy reversed if my mum has 5 weeks of radiotherapy for her anal cancer?.I asked the oncologist today but she was unsure .
Thanks
Debbie
. Hi Debbie. This is really something that you need to discuss with her surgeon. The fact that she’s had radiotherapy should not prevent a reversal however there are a lot of other factors to consider like how low the tumour is in the bowel, what other treatment is in the future, your mums ability to cope with the recovery from a reversal etc. Is there a reason that she’s keen for a reversal that we can maybe help with? There’s lots of people on here and the colostomy,Ileostomy board who could offer advice?
