Hi, well 1st cycle was fine, had 2nd infusion last Thursday, I had to have over 2.5 hr as it was uncomfortable, when left the hospital felt really woozy, didn't wanna complain in case they said I not allow it, even my speech was weird, since then tired is an understatement feel like i have been slammed by a train, today I up an hour then feel sick and awful.

I really don't wanna moan and I trying to embrace the treatment but wowzer the infusion knocks me sideways

Any tips welcome xxx

  • Hi @Bud 18. Yes I remember my speech being a bit weird - sort of slurry? Keep a bit of a diary as to how you’re feeling then you can have a chat with the nurses next time you go. Sometimes a different antisickness can make all the difference or a slight reduction in doseage (they start you on the maximum doseage for your weight and height) You need to just listen to your body especially for the first few days after IV and have a lazy day on the settee or an afternoon nap if you need one. Hopefully the worst will pass over and you’ll have some better days before your next session.
If you get really concerned about any of the side effects then give your 24 hour contact number a ring - I was told it was there for reassurance not just emergencies

Hope you start to feel a bit better soon

    Take care

  • Hi @Bud 18 , I was the same , it sounded like I’d sucked helium . Also my calf muscles seized up and I could hardly walk out the hospital . My infusions after that where lengthened to six hours. I also found that when the steroids wore off the tiredness really hit me , I could hardly get out of bed . Just take it really easy , stay in bed if you have to. I spent most of my time in bed Weary Everyone is different . Some people are lucky and have hardly any side effects . My oncologist said it was all normal but my dose was lowered for the last two sessions. Take care XX

  • Hi Bud, just to say I’m sending hugs xx

  • Cycle 2 was always the worst one for my mum !

Keep chatting to your team as they are great at getting the right tolerable level for you ! My mum had two different doses each year yet still had the same end results ! Initially she was frighten they would stop it but after she got her confidence up she was able to work it out with her team !

    Take care ,
