Hi
I was officially diagnosed with colon cancer last week, six weeks after I had emergency surgery to remove the tumour that had perforated my bowel along with the right half of my bowel.
Now waiting for the CT results to see if it has spread to my lungs or not. I'm only 39.
Hi and a warm welcome from me too. I hope you’re recovering from the op ok? Is there any history of bowel cancer in your family? It’s very stressful waiting for scan results but hopefully you’ll have a treatment plan in place soon and we’ll be happy to help and support you through it. I’ve attached a link to a booklet below aimed at young people which might help before your next appointment

Sending you lots of gentle hugs. It’s hard isn’t it to accept so young as well. I was told I was quite young at 50 (apparently the tumour has been inside me growing for approx 18/24 months). I had to have part of my bowel removed and now have a colostomy bag which they’ve said it will be hard to do a reversal when I asked how long I had it for. I’m here for you if you want to vent scream etc etc. I’m new to this group and I’m so glad I’ve found it. No one, and I mean no one understands anything your going through unless they’ve experienced it themselves. I’ve had 5.5 weeks of Radical and Harsh Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy every day. It was so hard. But I got through it and you can too. I’ve cried a river over and over. I’m on wk 5 of my 10 wk break from treatment. It’s hard, I’m not going to lie but you will get through it. Xx
Hi Karen
Thank you for the link, it is very helpful.
There isn't a history of bowel cancer specifically in my family however there is a history of other bowel issues such as crohns. So my doctor is referring me to genetics for further investigation.
The op was ok, I did get a wound infection but I got antibiotics and it has cleared up, just waiting for the last bits to heal now. The district nurses that are changing my dressings every couple of days say it is looking good but at the moment I'm having trouble looking at it. I know that's something I need to work on, I can't live the rest of my life not being able to look at my own body.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
