Hi
I remember my mum going through that ! Are you currently on chemotherapy?
My mum lost three stones during chemo ! In the cancer world it seemed to come flying off but incredibly slow and protracted to put back on . My mum completely lost her appetite as she felt everything tasted of cardboard ! It was a discipline for sure just to ensure she had enough to survive on . I think it’s one of those life events that without walking in the persons footsteps you can’t fully understand but I saw her very genuine struggle . To be honest we had words once or twine about it as it became a pressing issue ! I was at time frantic with worry !
We settled on making every mouthful count . Very small but often as a meal would just cause her to sink into the chair ! Calories loaded into a milk shake and small sips of it over a few hours . We had hidden chocolate bars etc in there ! And the build up soups for nutrition!
How long have you felt like this and is it induced by treatment or there before ?
The other thing you can do is speak to your Dr ! What did surprise me when my mum had a chemo break her appetite was there still just hidden by treatment . Your team need to find out what is contributing to this and help you if that’s possible. Our helpline staff might be able to help with ideas and some support too ! 0808 808 0000. The nurses have a wealth of experience to draw from !
I can honestly say it was one of the more difficult aspect but seek help .
Take care ,

Hi Court. Thanks for coming back to me. I've had no appetite throughout threatment and although I'm currently on a break my appetite (or tastebuds) have not returned.
I was eating quite OK throughout but the last couple of weeks have been extremely difficult food wise but I can't pinpoint why. I don't really enjoy food anymore which is a shame as it should be something to look forward to. I dread meal times. I just look at the food in the fridge and cupboards but nothing tempts me. I just don't seem to be responding to food (or the thought of it) the way I should.
I'm back at hospital early November so if things haven't improved by then I will discuss with the team.
Thanks again for your support.
Hi
Glad you have an appointment soon ! What really surprised me was how long it all took to resolve !
Very different to weight loss and appetite issues in other situations in life !
Hope you get some answers !
