In May had a colonoscopy and told I had rectal cancer and biopsies taken. On 9th July had an op to remove the rectal area and anus and had a permanent stoma fitted. After pathology results from op told it wasn't rectal cancer but anal cancer.
3 months later still sore in the bottom area and now bloated feeling in tummy and bulge at bottom of bum.Saw surgeon and told I've got a hernia. He said he doesn't deal with that sort of thing, big op and needs second opinion.
Has anyone come across this and knows what is involved.
Help needed.
Hi Jennifer r
Is the hernia bulge in your stomach? My mum had two post op ! One was very large , actually very large and has gone down quite a bit but without surgery !
She has so much surgery they did not want to go in again if possible !
Not sure about the rectal area as my mum ‘s was further up the colon !
Hopefully someone else will be able to help !
Have you asked in the Anal cancer group ?

Hi court thanks for replying.
The hernia is coming out of my bottom.. New to this so wasn't sure where to post.
I will try the anal group and hopefully someone will be able to tell me what happens next.
I am in more pain now than after the op and hospital don't seem bothered.
Thanks Jennifer
