Husband had colonoscopy on Friday and tumour discovered, and although biopsy taken, consultant said she didn’t need the results to know it was definitely cancer. Waiting for MRI and CT scan appointmSlight frownts to see if it is localised or has spread. Retired a couple of years ago and COVID destroyed first year and now this. Had been planning to spend a lot of time overseas Slight frown.

  • Hi, , I know from experience its tough, I came away from the colonoscopy with the diagnosis too. But hang on in there, this period is the worst for definite. Ask whatever you want on here, we've all been there, and we will all help if we can. ((Hugs)) to you both.

How long ago did you have your diagnosis and if you don’t mind sharing what was the prognosis and treatment?

  • , no I don't mind. In brief, colonoscopy 1 Feb 2019, CT and MRI 7 Feb, operation 4 March brought forward a week. T3N1M0 initially, after biopsy T3N0 V1M0. Chemo started 1 May,  low dose 5FU for 30 weeks which stretched into Dec, finishing just before Christmas. Click on my name to read more details.

No biopsy at the initial colonoscopy as they knew, much like your husband. The fast track worked, but I always feel the moviprep aggravated the tumour as I was basically blocked afterwards, hence moving the operation forward. Laparoscopic low anterior resection, and they managed a join, despite being very low.

So prognosis is good. CT scans since have been ok, due another in Dec. I did opt to go on a trial, wouldn't hurt me and might help others. Ask away if you need any more info.

Once you have the scans and the MDT meeting you will have a treatment plan, and can plan forward. This current time is the worst.
