Hi hubby on watch and wait , 18 months clear but local recurrence showed this week , wonder anyone similar or any ideas of treatment going forward? Consultants to come back to us

  • Hi . Watch and wait must be so stressful. I think you’ll have to be guided by the consultants on the best way forward but I would imagine that they’ll maybe want to remove the tumour this time?  had a similar scenario I think? x

  • Hi Fifra, I had chemoradiation last year for a tumour in colon. January this year clear scans, incidental find on liver, had RFA, clear scans July. 22 August colonoscopy saiid found cancerous polyp. After MDT meeting inconclusive had another colonoscopy 9 biopsies took came back inconclusive. Met with surgeon on the 30 September asked what his colleague had said I sad cancer he said the go by the pathology report and it’s precancerous, I could watch and wait, surgery and chemo.he said it’s not an accurate it has grown again. So I think I need it cut out this time and stronger chemo. I hope this has helped a bit.and  take care and sending hugs Nelly55 xx

  • Sorry that should read a reoccurrence

  • Hi nelly1995

thanks for that , meeting with MDT on Wednesday, oncology in mind to try papillion therapy waiting to hear surgeon opinions.

  • Hi Fifra can I ask what the papillon therapy is. Wishing you luck with MDT meeting, Nelly 55

  • had MDT meeting and offered , watch and wait, Pallion (contact radiotheraphy), APR and TEM. slightly overwhelmed by the limited choices but apparently due to location of tumor. Its our call but difficult decision ahead. Hope your in a good place.

    Thanks

  • Hi Fifra, I think watch and wait could be very stressful. I just wish they would say we are doing this, this, this. I was offered chemo, and it would have been started very soon, but I think I need the tumour removed. When I was offered I said what I thought then I put it back to the surgeon and asked what he thought was the best way forward. Is there anyone like your GP or the nurses on the MacMillian line to help. I just send best wishes and hugs. Xx

  • Sorry I have repeated a lot of what Karen 62 said, she put it a bit better than me. I will just say I’m high risk for surgery and I’m scared. I opted to have chemoradiation last time after surgery cancelled.
