Hello I was diagnosed with a colon cancer on Wednesday. Its T1 N0 M0 which was explained to me as being invasive but within the colon , the scan seemed to show lymph nodes were clear and currently no.spread to other organs. I am booked in for surgery on 3rd November. The surgeon hopes the operation will be keyhole. I will not know about chemo  until the pathology results come back post operation. I would appreciate any advice and support. My CNS was very hekoful and I have all the information  from MacMillan

Sorry wrong scores correct ones are T3 N0 M0

  • Hi . The M0 which means no spread is good news. T3 signifies how far the tumour has grown into the bowel wall (but not through it) They will only be able to tell for definite if any lymph nodes are affected after the tumour and surrounding area has been removed and sent off for testing.
You will probably stay about 5 days in hospital and they will be keen to get you out of bed and walking about. The bowel does not like being handled so be cautious with your eating for a couple of days. Recovery from the op will be about 3-5 weeks. You won’t be able to lift anything heavier than a kettle with a cupful of water in and won’t be able to drive until you can safely perform an emergency stop.

If there’s anything in particular that you want to ask about then please do and I hope the op goes well

    Take care

  • Hi, , snap! Though initially they thought N1 but this was reduced after the op to N0 but there was some vascular invasion so I ended up being T3N0 V1M0 if I can help just ask. What do you need to know? This is curable, I am clear so far. Stay safe

I’m so sorry to read this. I’m glad you are able to have surgery.  Stay strong! You’ve got this. Sending my love to you and your family xx

  • Hi Abbieob, it's such a shock to begin with so it's hard to take everything in sometimes. I was T3N0M0 too and had surgery mid July. I got out on day 5 although could have gone earlier but my potassium was low so they had to recheck bloods. First couple of days quite tough but everyone in my wee ward was up and in the shower morning of day after op. After surgery I had same diagnosis as Gemmary - so no nodes infected but some evidence of invasion in veins and capillaries, which they removed. Any questions about surgery or anything else please just ask. Hope the op goes well x
