Hi all my mum is suffering with cetuximab rash as she is receiving antibody treatment for bowel and advanced liver cancer .I was just wondering if anyone had been suffering and if they had any advise on reducing then redness and soreness or is it something she just has to deal with
Sharon
Hi I have linked in a leaflet from Macmillan on skin management during treatment . It is only so helpful when it comes to Cetuximab . Your mum may speak to her oncologist to get a referral to a dermatologist. They should be able to assist and some people have benefited from their intervention. I think they use a specific antibiotic.
My mum had a spread to her liver but Cetuximab was not funded back then but the research looks good !
How is your mum managing with the treatment?
Our helpline staff might have more information.
Hope your doing ok also !
take care ,

Hi Sharon the rash is horrible isn't it, I do feel for your mum. I had quite a few cycles of cetuximab and had very sore skin. Does your mum take antibiotics, I was given doxycycline to take once a day and up it to two with an outbreak. I used to wash with Dermol 500 then apply Pliazon, both I got on prescription from the my oncologist.
