Hello there, my name is Tony and yesterday I got the results of biopsy and I have cancer.
the diagnosis has shattered my world. I am so angry because I lead a very heathy lifestyle. . I follow a primal living lifestyle, eating seasonal fruits and vegetables and grass fed meat. I don’t eat grains and I treat refined sugar as a poison.
I fast twice a week, do yoga, H I T and resistance training. I take supplements, my usual breakfast is a smoothie made from, wheatgrass, spiralina, cacao and bone broth.+ MCT oil.
what a total waist of time.
WHY ??????
Hi Ynot and welcome to the board. I suppose the answer is in your user name - why not. It’s not fair is it but with 1 in 2 people getting cancer at some point in their lives then …….The ‘good’ news is that bowel/rectal cancer is very treatable especially if caught early. You sound very fit and healthy - I bet you feel it too dont you and wonder how the hell you can have cancer? - which will stand you in good stead for the treatment ahead. It will be tough but doable. Stay away from google - it is out of date and misleading - stay on here or the bowel cancer uk board and read/post/ ask anything you like.
Do you know how low down in the rectum your tumour is? Mine was 9cm in and if you click on my name you can see the treatment and results I’ve had.
So welcome to the gang that nobody wants to be in. If you want to know anything just ask - everyone’s at different stages of treatment/recovery and happy to support you through this
Take care

Thank you Karen for your help and support. I certainly need it.
I have to go for 2 scans on Tuesday 31st . A team of medical professionals will discuss my case on the following Friday. Then they will call me in.
I think the cancer is 5 cm up from my back passage.
Thank you X
Welcome to the forum Ynot such a shock for you and many people here have wrestle with the unfairness of living a healthy lifestyle . Sounds really good though !
One thing I would add my mum did too and really help being in good shape with her tolerance of treatment and surgery !
I think the anger aspect is part of the process . Even as a relative I felt this surge that I had never experienced before . Thankfully it quickly settled after a chat to my GP and never surfaced again !
Hoping you get a good plan in place and all your hard work on your lifestyle still goes towards recovery !
We used to have a cancer lecturer on the site . He too had a tumour way back . He used to say it’s just an unfortunate DNA aspect something to do with P

Hi Ynot
Your situation sounds similar to mine. I was really angry when diagnosed
as I too eat healthily and live a healthy lifestyle; no meat and lots of seeds and grains etc I was also really frustrated about how long it took to make decisions etc.
What I learnt is there are no answers to the why questions and actually those weekly meetings mean a group of professionals are pooling their knowledge and making the best decisions about what treatment is best for me.
My tumour was also 5cm up my bum I say 'was' as I had robotic surgery 2 weeks ago and the little *!#*@ is now in some lab getting analysed.
It's really hard coming to terms with the diagnosis, but like others have said it is more common than you think and very treatable- not even the chemo and side effects are too bad!
There are bad days and good days ahead of you but try and stay positive and remember you will be OK!
All the very best.
You are not to blame. Cancer strikes anyone at any age. Im vegan but I got bowel cancer. I thought healthy eating was good but it may have delayed onset of disease. Ive since discovered many healthy young people were diagnosed too. I love sugar and ive often thought if it was related but i think mine was genetic as my grandmother died too of this type of bowel cancer.. I have no other risk factors though I've just turned 60 but ive been healthy until now. I was always fit in early life.
Cold comfort but its questions with few answers.
Tony
