Hi I'm nearly 6 weeks post op, can any body tell me about getting back to driving, when were any of you OK?

Its 6 weeks for insurance purposes.I was told as long as you are comfortable doing an emergency stop.hope that helps

Hi there. I started driving 4 weeks after my op, and was fine. I had let my insurance company know prior to the op and they really didn’t care or want to know when I started driving again. If you feel fine and aren’t in any abdominal pain, I say go for it.

I waited 6 weeks to the day and I was fine, you are just a bit nervous at first.

I am still in pain, a bit but, I think I'll try later on in the week, an emergency stop, thank you for your reply

I think that's part of it I do feel nervous, I am still in a bit of pain but I don't know if, that's what pain I'm going to be for a while yet so it'll be my normal maybe

Hi Kar,

I had a laparotomy and removal of tumours from my ovary and abdomen in June and was told I could drive after 4 weeks as long as I felt safe. I did and I was fine. Just took short journeys at first.

Hi lou loubelle,

I read a lot of people seem to be ok 4-6 weeks, I have bad pain lower right abdomin, that seems to not be getting better, it seems to be hindering my recovery rate, gp sending me for a scan, but today it really hurts, I'm not sure if it's a normal after effect,‍♀️, thank you for letting me know though
