Hi, my.name is Cheryl, I am 41 years old and was diagnosed with colon cancer on 5 July 2021.

I've had an operation to remove my sigmoid and lymph nodes around the sigmoid and liver.

Currently awaiting results next week to find out how the land lies.

Getting extremely anxious regarding the results.

Someone mentioned this forum so thought I'd join

Best wishes.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the board from me. Good to hear that the tumour is in the bin now and hopefully it won’t be long before you get the results through

    Please keep us updated

    Take care

    Hi Cheryl,

I am also 41 and had a tumour removed on 2nd June - stage 3 bowel cancer, I had 29 lymph nodes removed and 7 were cancerous but no spread to other organs which was a positive sign and clear margins. Due to undergo chemo for 3 months, was meant to start this week but covid struck our household the day before!! So now pushed back 28days.

I hope you’re results are good and all is clear for you with nothing further needed. If you need any further treatment hopefully just precautionary to prevent any reoccurrence.

you’re not alone, know that much, sending positive vibes

    Lucy xx

    Hi Lucy,

Thanks. My results are Monday. So anxious. I never thought to ask about how many lymph nodes they took out, what are margins? I'm.not up to date with all the terminology yet. Are there any questions I can ask when they call me on Monday?

    Thank you xx

Same, after my surgery I was under the assumption just the tumour was removed to be biopsied so I too didn’t ask … I learnt in my consultation that my appendix, 29 lymph nodes and the right side of my colon were removed - this was to completely clear the area surrounding my tumour and by clear margins it just means the perimeter of the area showed no signs of cancer which also meant it hadn’t spread to other organs :)

Since then I’ve had a liver MRI and colonoscopy. I was dreading the colonoscopy but it was actually ok under sedation.

They are very thorough in explaining everything and every case is different but I’m sure you’ll think of questions as they go through it with you. I have personally found the follow up and support really good so far.

It is very much going into the unknown but take small steps and I really do hope it’s a good call tomorrow for you :)

I still feel like the chemo isn’t really happening as I currently feel better than ever (well besides covid) it’s a very surreal experience.

    take care x
