Hi, my mum was diagnosed with bowl cancer 3 months ago, she is 86 and decided she did not want treatment which the family are sticking to. 3 weeks ago she was admitted to hospital with a suspected blockage. After a week the doctors agreed she was at end of life care and was only expected to live a few days so we brought her home which is what she wanted.
2 weeks later she is still at home, not eating but wanting to, completely bed ridden and reliant on the family looking after her.
The Macmillan nurse has been amazing, we have an interim social care package in place for visits twice a day while we wait for the fast track health care package to be implemented along with a night sitter.
The problem I have is I do need to go back to work at some point, as a family we have designed a rota which works in the short term but if I go back to work it will be down the remaining family to pick up the 24 hour care.
How would I arrange carers during the day to take the pressure of the remaining family? Any advice would be gratefully received
Thanks
