Hi, I was diagnosed in 2015 with stage 4 bowel cancer. After some gruelling treatment I've had 3 wonderful years of remission but now it's back. Would love to hear how others have coped.
Sorry to hear you are having to face treatment again . My mum had a few years off when another met popped up , however they too were wonderful years and gave her strength again to endure further treatment .
That turned out to be operable and over five years ago now which has resulted in her being discharged!!! Only took her twelve years !
Do you have a plan to deal with the latest spread ? It’s been a good long time since your last treatment so hoping you get a good plan in place and pull this back in and on with life .
Is it back in the same area ? My mum was very disappointed but the oncologist was quite upbeat and felt it had options and that gave us a nice surprise and we followed her lead !
Hi Court, thanks for your encouraging reply. It is back in my liver. I'm waiting for a PET scan to see if it's anywhere else. I was all for letting nature take its course but after reading about your mum I will keep an open mind. Thanks again x
Glad you are going to keep an open mind . It’s horrible news initially but my mum actually had a second recurrence in her liver immediately. Then a gap and up it popped in her lung . It was such a blow !
I expressed so to the oncologist and said “but she was doing so well !” And she immediately lifted her head and stopped me . I then said “ but you still think she is doing well !” She confirmed she did and was all part of treating cancer as a chronic condition . However it was in fact the last of the microdisease popping up and was quickly attended to !
She still had treatment options and more than she initially had !
However it did involve more treatment /intervention and that is tough to face so we are very much here for you !
