Just been diagnosis of stage 4 Bowel cancer spread to the abdominal lining. The outcome not good and surgery not operable.Heard about HIPEC and may meet the criteria. Live in leeds and don’t know if I can ask for referral. Very worried.

Has any one has HIPEC done and what the procedures.

Hi Catherine - I was interested in your very helpful reply to Siu who is soon to start treatment and your own journey - wishing you both the best.

I am recently diagnosed (at a different stage), however, it has been suggested that I get a second opinion/be referred to The Christie as I live near the Scottish border. The other hospital for treatment being the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle. I note you saw Dr Aziz, did you meet any other members of the team before your treatment started?

Not surprisingly, where I should go for treatment is adding to my anxiety. I usually live in the south of England but have been in the North looking after my mother. Would you be prepared to share your experience at The Christie with me via personal messaging - assuming this is permitted.

If any other member of the community has been treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Newcatle or St Marks Hospital in London perhaps they would be kind enough to let me know which doctor they saw and who performed the surgery.

I'm having to look at different centres for treatment as it is just my mother and I and I may be able to organise support for her with friends if I'm treated in either Manchester, Newcastle or London. My GP and current consultant are aware of my circumstances and are supportive that I may need to go to another consultant/hospital for treatment to ensure my mother is cared for. That said, no one I know has been treated at any of the three hospitals so any guidance would be most welcome.

Thank you to Catherine and anyone else who reads this request. Best wishes, A

Hi. I'd be very happy to help in any way I can. I'm happy to do it privately though I don't know how we would do this. Let me know what we should do or we can talk here.

I wont answer any questions yet, I'll wait to hear from you.

    Take care.

  • Hi

If you just click on the persons user name  , then go to the top right hand side and click the cross box , three options come up and you select “Add as friend”.

The person then accepts your request .
Once accepted you should get an email notification!

If you then press the down arrow on the top hand side of this page , options should show up and you go to the second from the left , rectangle speech bubble and send a message .

One more wee tip.  In the message box there is box on the bottom left ! Enter to send . If you tick it , it stops them sending them off prematurely!
