Well had phone call this afternoon booked me a covid test on Monday then my colonoscopy on Thursday (next week) things are moving very fast but that's a good thing .
. Do you know what prep you’ll be having yet? I’m having 1 next Friday and I’ve got to collect the Moviprep on Tuesday Ugh x
Hi . They usually recommend some form of sedation especially if it’s your first time. You can have gas and air which means you can drive yourself home or you can have sedation through a cannula but you need to have someone to collect you and be with you for 24 hours after. The booklet they send you should explain the 2 and what the after requirements are. I’ve had 1 before (when I was diagnosed) and the whole appointment took about 3 hours what with meeting with the nurse, checking blood pressure, sedation set up, actual colonoscooy, 30 min recovery with something to eat, discharge meeting with nurse etc.
Just warning you as I know you want to be there for your daughter

Ps if you get the moviprep to take then drink it through a wide straw as cold as possible and have something there to take the taste away - it is rank - like lemon flavoured salt water!
Thankyou , I got call from nurse asked questions ,asked if I wanted sedation I said no , silly me but she said about gas n air , just been to pick my pack up it's moviprep , don't know how to post pics on here yet x s it painful btgen or just weirdly uncomfortable I had the sigmoidoscopy , had to do a few breaths with that x
. I think if you’re wanting to get out and about more quickly then the gas and air is the option for you. I’m pretty sure they said I could change my mind on the day if I wanted but if you have the sedation then you can’t drive, go to work, operate machinery or look after small children for 24 hours. I don’t remember it being painful but I had sedation and I remember watching it on the screen and seeing a bloody mass and saying ‘ooh that doesn’t look very good’ as they were saying ‘pinch, grab, cut’ as they took biopsies.
My brother has regular colonoscopies due to colitis and he doesn’t have anything so he can get out as quickly as possibly but I’m not sure if it will be more uncomfortable now Ive had surgery so I’m not risking it
If you’ve any concerns then give them a quick ring and I’m sure they’ll be able to help

Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply to me , I'm full time carer to my son who's 17 on Monday he has severe OCD and ASD plus like I say my daughter may have baby Monday if not before so I need to get on her little boy is poorly be and she needs the support , so sooner get it done sooner be over , but I don't blame you, if I didn't have to crazy about then I probably would of had the sedation , I'll probably wish I had once they start , are you nervous x
