Hi, I'm new to the forum, I joined following a positive fit test today.
I'm scared that I may have cancer.
Hi LouiseB2021
Welcome to the board and sorry to see you here! Thought I'd comment as none esle had and actually this could've been my post back in April! I had a positive Fitt test and was sent for a Colonoscopy! The colonoscopy showed a Tumour (not wanting to scare you) fast forward to now I have had the tumour removed (lower anterior resection LAR) and I am now due to go for my second chemo infusion which is just to make sure all the cancer cells have gone! I know how scary all this is and the waiting for results makes it even worse but these days Bowel Cancer is very curable!
I hope this helps just a little bit! I'm sure some others will tell u a bit about their experiences.
Good luck
Pauline x
Hi LouiseB2021
It's natural to worry but it may not be cancer. There are other conditions that have many of the symptoms of bowel cancer. I had very few symptoms just a feeling that something was wrong. My sister has a lot of the symptoms but has colitis. Don't Google anything, can be a bit scary. Keep yourself busy.

Hi Gemmary I just read your about you and i was wondering did you have a sigmoidoscopy first , just I had that yesterday and they didn't see anything but I'm waiting for results of C T and she said she was booking me in for a colonoscopy, this would be done in the next 2 weeks .I had a abnormal FIT test and calprotection test also visible blood in stools for over a month with tummy pain , I'm thinking of just getting on without any sedation for the colonoscopy I don't wanna hang about any longer than I have to X
Thanks for the reassurance all x
I have just receieved a text from my Dr to say that I have been referred to the hospital for a camera test to investigate my symptoms further.
I guess I just have to wait and see what happens, but it's nerve wracking and I'm a very anxious person already.
Hi, , no, no sigmoidoscopy . Straight to a colonoscopy after one bowel test was inconclusive and a second was abnormal. Then CT and MRI .
Hi LoiuseB2021
I had a positive FIT last July, my doc did a 2 week fast track Colonoscopy had on 25 Julyand everything was clear, they took samples from the colon and everything came back normal.
I was in bits as my husband has bowel cancer , diagnosed in Feb 2019 , crying before i went in , everyone was lovely a nurse held my hand all the way through the proceedure
Good luck
, glad the colonoscopy was ok today, and fingers crossed for the biopsies.
