I have had two colon cancer operations, first once found after screening test, the second one seven months later when they found more colon cancer, cancer in lymph nodes and lymphoma in small intestine.

For over two years I have not gone to the toilet normally this has resulted in the use of various creams to protect my bottom from my toilet as it irritates the skin.

I am at the present time losing sleep because of the pain the doctors cannot find the answer other than diffrent creams.

Has someone had this experience and I’d there any long term way of curing it.

My toilet still comes out runny and hot no matter what I eat, I am on 10 Imodium and 60 mg of codeine a day just to control the toilet other wise I would be going at least eight times a day

  • I can't offer a definite solution as I still struggle with urgent need to go to the toilet frequently and unpredictably, but certainly there are certain foods and drinks that make it worse. Coffee, alcohol, tomato, chocolate are all triggers. Might be worth, if you haven't already, getting your consultant to refer you to a gastro-dietician.

  • Follow a low fibre diet but at the same time increase soluble fibre intake by taking Fybogel 2-3 times a day.
