Hi
Just want to welcome you to the forum ! I think it’s very difficult to hear there is not a surgical solution at the moment however going straight to chemo can be a good plan ! They rescan and go back to the MDT meeting after chemo and hopefully they will have achieved better margins for surgery. My own mum has gone through chemo twice to do this !
However it’s hard emotionally but hopefully they will be able to get a good plan in place quickly and you might feel as though you are tackling it . We certainly did !
We are here to support you through this difficult time . Do you know anything about your cell type ?
Take care ,

Oh that’s awful ! My mum had a lovely surgeon tell her but her first oncologist was very pointed and left us feeling the same way . Hopefully your oncologist will bring some compassion to the meeting and encourage you . It’s a horrible experience and took some time for us all to get over that .
I will tag in Hayleyc89 as chemo turned things around for her husband. Also you can get a second opinion from other surgeons , even after chemo to weigh up your options .
One step at a time though . Our helpline staff would be more than happy to chat this through with you 0808 808 0000. They might be able to suggest some support too. However you have us and feel free to ask anything you like .
So sorry you had to go through that experience. It certainly can be delivered with much more compassion.

Hi sorry to hear of your diagnosis. My husband was diagnosed October 2020 he was told the tumor in he's colon was too large to operate on and very very close to he's pancreas it was all very doom and gloom at first and we were told that they would try him on chemotherapy (irinotecan, oxalaplatin and 5fu) for 3 months just to try shrink it with a view to operate if the chemo was to work thankfully the chemo did work and my husbands tumor shrunk enough for it to be taken away he underwent surgery where they took the tumor and 19 lymph nodes out of 19 only 1 node had cancer in it so he is now back on chemotherapy (oxalaplatin and 5fu) as a mop up just incase any cells are floating around but the oncologist called around 2 weeks ago and said that my husband is cancer free :) this was the best news ever as at the beginning it was all very bleak. Its amazing what can be done so please try stay positive xx
Hi there you can always get a second opinion .I am not saying your drs are no good but different drs are sometimes will ing to try .December2018 I was told I was for palliative care,no op,no radiothapy or chemotherapy .I sought a second opinion, had different chemo and Avastin which stopped my tumour growing .Had a big op, removing some stomach, small amount of small bowel and half my colon .My
umour was 17x 15x12 cms pressing on my kidney and very close to my pancreas .My surgeon was very brave and took a chance .I am 3scans clear .Keep positive .So much more they can do these days
Hi there I've only seen doc at hospital to tell me results of biopsies and CT scan waiting for a call from oncologist hoping that will be more caring and informative and will be more clear on what the plan going to be
