Hi , have CT on Saturday and appointment with specialist Tuesday I'm scared but hiding my worry as have a 25 yr old daughter who's pregnant with overian cancer , life is definitely throwing alot at us at the moment.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the board. As you may have gathered from previous posts, this is a very stressful time but once you have a treatment in place then things will feel a little better. Any cancer diagnosis is a horrible shock but bowel cancer is very slowly growing and also very treatable. I shall give you my usual advice which is to stay away from google - it is misleading, out of date and you will scare yourself silly. Stay on here and the bowel cancer uk site.

Its up to every individual to decide who they tell how much to but I agree that it’s a good idea to wait until after your appointment. I asked my consultant if he could make me better and he said that they were treating me ‘with a view to cure’ which I was able to tell people to reassure them.

If you click on people’s names then you can see the sort of treatment that they’ve had. I can send you a link to a booklet about treatment if you want a heads up but some people prefer to wait for their appointment?

I can only imagine how worried you must be with your daughters diagnosis as well. The nurses on here are available every day from 8am-8pm if you need someone to offload to. The number is 0808 808 00 00.

Please let us know how your appointment goes

    Take care

  • Hi

Big welcome from me too and I am so sorry you and your family are having to go through so much ! I am just hoping that the wee bundle of joy winging its way to you will be therapy in itself !
As Karen said once the information is gathered together they will put a good plan in place for you .
I take it as soon as the baby is born your daughter will be facing her own treatment . We are most definitely here for you to support you through this very difficult stage for your family ,

Karen always reminds us that bowel cancer is very treatable with lots of options so hold onto that as you go through the next few days . It’s a lot to try and manage your own health needs whilst trying to be there on so many levels for your daughter !

Once you get to know your oncologist a bit better it might be good to look into the genetic aspect as there are some good developments in that area !

Lots of love to you and your daughter ,
