I was diagnosed with bowel cancer on Christmas Eve. I have had a stoma operation and recently finished 28 radiotherapy sessions. Now I am just waiting. A scan is the next stage in a couple of months and then see if they will operate and remove the tumor. Luckily I live close to the hospital (20 minutes) so the travel has not been too much of an issue.
Hello Bearwidower
Just want to welcome you to the forum . Glad you have the radiotherapy part completed and hopefully it is still doing it’s job and continuing to shrink .
How did you find the treatment ? Hope before you get the date of your scan you get the opportunity to do some nice things .
Ask anything you like and again a big welcome .

Hi Bearwidower and a warm welcome from me too. It’s quite a long wait inbetween finishing radiochemo and getting scanned isn’t it? I’d almost forgotten I was poorly! Hopefully the tumour will have been well and truly zapped and can them be removed.
Hope you’re able to enjoy some of this lovely weather but remember to apply a high factor cream
Take care
Karen x
The treatment so far has not been too bad, the chemo had nasty side effects but we agreed to stop it after two weeks. Hopefully it is continuing to shrink but we will find out when I get scanned. Anemia was a problem but a couple of transfusions appears to have fixed that. I am now concentrating on getting fit again.
I am still surprised by the wait but I don't feel too bad. I am in hope that they will operate in couple of months or so.
Lovely weather. I am sort of retired but I don't idle well (so my wife says) so I am now back working 3 days a week. Doing ok.
I am 66 years old and quite unfit so I have a challenge ahead of me.
I am amazed and pleasantly surprised by the support and stories on here. Makes me realise that I am not going through this alone and others have been there before .
That’s great to read Bearwidower. It’s a great wee corner of the internet ! That’s how it felt to me too ! Other families were facing the same situations and finding a way to process it all !

Good to hear things are getting lined up for you ! Hopefully significant shrinkage will be seen on the scan .
