Hi. I'm Chris, 60, ex smoker but reasonably fit and I've recently been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, can't be more specific at this stage as still waiting to be determined exactly where and what.
Well. It's a bit of a shock isn't it! One day you're being treated for a simple problem, the next, you're being told you have cancer. Well that's a bit of a bugger isn't it?
I'm sure once I get a full hold of this and there's a treatment plan in place, things will maybe seem a little more normal? Certainly hope so.
Hi and a warm welcome to the board from me. Yes it’s a bit of a bugger especially if you feel reasonably well and you were just getting a bit of something and nothing - or so you thought - checked out. The next couple of weeks when you’re waiting for scans, results, meetings etc. will be a bit stressful but once you have a treatment plan in place then things will feel a bit better.
In the meantime stay away from google! It is out of date and downright scary in places. Stay on here and the bowel cancer uk board. If you click on people’s names then their profile page may give you an idea of their treatment so far. Bowel cancer is quite slow growing but very treatable - it will be tough at times but doable and we’ll be happy to help you through this
Take care
Karen x
