Went for flexi sig today and told have 6cm rectal tumour - talk about being hit with a brick, so scared!

  • Hi  and welcome to the board. Have they said that they think the tumour is cancerous? The biopsy results will give a definite answer and if it is cancerous then you will have scans and meetings while a treatment plan is put in place. This waiting for results is very stressful but please stay away from google - it is out of date, misleading and downright scary in places.
Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing but also very treatable. Size is not an indication of ‘seriousness’ - my tumour was 4cm but shrank to 1cm after chemoradiotherapy and was removed during surgery.

There are lots of people on here at various stages of treatment and we’ll be happy to support you through this. Please let us know how your results go?

    Take care
