Hi there. I'm a newbie. Had my ascending colon and a stage 3 tumour removed 5 weeks ago after being admitted to a and e with suspected appendicitis. Recovered really well. I have a single met on my liver which will hopefully be blitzed by my upcoming chemo. Was doing really well and was pain free until yesterday. I've got a pain that feels like a perpetual stitch. GP is seeing me in the morning but I'm really scared in case its another tumour.
Hi Deb
I'm afraid logic goes out the window when your scared witless! thats not a criticism by the way as I have frequently lost all logic too. A brief recap then
1. Youve had 1/3 of your bowel removed 5 weeks ago in major surgery
2. Youve been scanned, prodded and poked to the enth degree and had fingers shoved in places that are only ever seen on movies of a very dubious nature
3. The scans prodding and poking have found a single met on your liver which will be easily treatable.
For a tumour to be causing pain its got to be a big bugger, they would have found it before now, the pain will be down to the fact that you have had several very large surgical implements poking around your guts only 5 weeks ago, or an infection, or youve done too much, or your about to have a cracking sh*t or even trapped wind.
Have you a number for your colorectal nurses that you can call, mine were and are very very good.
All the best
dom
PS I dont watch dubious movies, just heard about them in the pub
Hi . Hope Dom’s reply has helped you? It’s a big op and your insides will have been dragged around and will take time to settle down and the wound to heal. I found I was getting a dull ache at the top of my bottom after I’d been shopping and struggled to get into the car. The nurse explained that it was things starting to knit back together again and just to do a bit less the next day.
If you’re still worried then you can always give the nurses on here a ring on 0808 808 00 00
Hope the chemo goes ok and blitzes the met
Take care
Karen x
