Hi I've had blood and pain like a razor blade in my backside with alot of blood and mucus when I went to the toilet I had a poo test and bloods taken 5 months ago but clear had a camera this week and have 3cm tumour so waiting to find out the stage very painful so my worst fear realised as having a bag as the pain severe (sedation didn't work with camera) before I have treatment. Biggest stress is that I've had a kidney transplant and kidneys removed and immunsuppressents have caused drug induced diabetes on insulin and 5 years on dialysis have contributed to 2 heart attacks last one 2018 so not sure what future hold

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the board. The waiting for results, scans, meetings etc. is very stressful but once you have a treatment plan in place then things will feel a little bit better - honestly. The specialists will meet and decide on a treatment plan for you and they will take into account any medical issues. If you are in a lot of pain passing stools then they may suggest a bag before you commence treatment to alleviate the pain but this may well be reversible after your treatment finishes.
Bowel cancer is very slow growing and very treatable so please try not to assume the worst - there are lots of treatment options available. Please stay away from google - it is out of date and downright scary in places. There are lots of people at various stages of treatment on here and if you click on their name then it will take you to their profile page which may show their treatment so far.

Please keep posting and let us know how you get on - we’ll be happy to support you through this.

    Take care

  • Hi

Welcome to the forum . Sounds a painful colonoscopy.!
Bowel cancer can be very treatable and I see you are managing other conditions that require to be factored in . People with previous heart issues are sometimes requested by the anaesthetist to have an assessment that is current from the cardiologist. Their input often helps greatly and gives some guidance and support.

Hopefully they will come up with a good treatment plan for you and they are used to dealing with patients with a history of other issues . I actually know a man who recently had a colostomy and he had a transplant to factor in . They consulted well with his wider specialist including his renal surgeon and he seemed to do ok . Although I was a none cancer issue it resulted in a colostomy.

IT is a period of uncertainty for you just now and I hope it comes together quickly !

    Take care ,
