Had bowel cancer diagnosed 9 years ago but got away with radiotherapy and chemo. Unfortunately last year I had a reoccurrence and this resulted in the removal of rectum and part of lower bowel. Now have permanent stoma and have got used to using bags. The bit which still aches is where they had to remove part of the tail. A small price to pay
Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear about your reoccurrence but glad that you’ve now got rid of the tumour and you’re coping with the stoma well. The removal of the rectum is a big operation and will take a good few months to get over so be kind to your self. I had a low anterior resection and used to get an ache at the top of my bottom after walking but the nurse told me just to take it a bit easier the next day. As you say it is a small price to pay to be cancer free.
